It has been quite the year to say the least!

Putting aside the pandemic for a moment, this has been by far the most stimulating year that I can remember in my career. A year ago, when we started North Sixth Group our vision was quite simple. We were determined to invest in companies focused on Passion, Purpose and Progress.

A year later, it has been truly remarkable to see how far we have come in such a short time. We now have seven companies in our portfolio across media, marketing, professional services, technology and sports and entertainment. The past year has taken me to Italy, Australia, England and so many places in between. I am now surrounded by CEOs and entrepreneurs who have made me better in so many ways. We have made investments in media platforms and software products. Heck we even bought a European football club (more on this in another blog post)!

The most gratifying part of it all? Undoubtedly it has been the amazing people whom I have met along the journey. It has been a dream to meet entrepreneurs and investors from such diverse backgrounds, all of whom have made the experience quite enriching. I am learning so much from them, and we are getting better one deal at a time.

As excited as I have been about our new units, I am most grateful for our “OG’s”. In particular, our legacy units N6A and Studios.

Any founder will tell you that the most challenging thing to do is to step aside from the day-to-day business. I am fortunate to have such talented and dedicated operators, without whom this transition would have never been possible. Our legacy units N6A and Studios are in the hands of amazing operators, Daniela Mancinelli and Valerie Leary, and are destined for even bigger things in the year ahead.

Quick story to end this post.

I had dinner before the holiday break with an old buddy of mine who is in the financial services industry. He asked me how it feels to be in the private equity business. “Private equity!?” I thought. Truth is, a year ago if anyone would have told me I would be in the private equity business I would have looked at them like they were crazy. Everything just sort of happened this way. Just like your career takes unpredictable twists and turns and throws you curve balls along the way, this is what happened to me over the past year.

I set out to partner with businesses and entrepreneurs that shared a vision for Passion, Purpose and Progress. And I guess I came out on the other side a private equity professional. Or so they tell me. I prefer to say I am in the business of Passion, Purpose and Progress. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Thanks to everyone who supported us on the first year of the journey. Can’t wait for 2022.
